In April the volunteers of the Foundation met for the first time little Michał and his mother. The PETRALANA Foundation volunteers immediately decided about raising funds for "To Help" project to finance rehabilitation. Success came unexpectedly quickly thanks to the support of the trusted friends of the Foundation. One of them deserves special thanks - Mr. Jacek (who wants to remain anonymous). He made physical and speech rehabilitation of Michałek started so fast and paying for 9 months of treatment was only a formality.

What's new?

We are practicing with Michałek so-called. "Quadruplets" what means simultaneous support on hands and feet so that in the future he can crawl. Rehabilitant also teaches him to stand. Pioneering costs him a lot of effort and puts a lot of work into it.

How is speech therapy proceeding? Are there any advances?

Definitely, although it will sound immodest now, as I say, but I have to boast it ... It speaks nicely of "mom" and "baba". In addition to working on speech, the ladies are working on improving his mouth to eat and the training his hearing sensitivity. They teach it to respond properly to sounds. They work on his favourite toys such as a car, airplane, train, ball or animals such as hen, horse, cow, sheep. Michał learns the sounds of the environment by learning the onomatopoeias.

We heard that Michał was diagnosed with a congenital defect of the small intestine of the so-called Doubling of digestive tract, which resulted in cutting out 30 cm of small intestine?

Without going into details, the situation was very complicated, no one suspected such a fault and it is innate. There were also additional complications from the urinary tract. Fortunately, Michał quick got better. Michał is unpredictable.

So you can count on feeding the probe to be superfluous?

Partly the situation improved, but Michał still does not want to eat alone, we do miracles to force him to eat. Requires continuous help professionals in this field, face and mouth massage, continuous stimulation. For now, everything is based on eating mashes, completely blended food. And in the future learning to chew, chew, solid foods .... ehh long way.
